The second most common grade after 304 is Type 316 Stainless Steel. Type 316 is a popular chromium, nickel, molybdenum-bearing stainless steel grade. Though it is often referred to as marine grade stainless steel, it is in fact not resistant to seawater.
Type 316 is known for its corrosion resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments.
